School: The American School in Japan

Bio: I am an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Google for Education Certified Innovator, and a National Board Certified Teacher. I’m currently the Director of Technology at The American School in Japan. I have worked in international education for 20 years, including positions at Cairo American College, the American Embassy School in New Delhi, India and the International School of Amsterdam.

I have co-founded three companies dedicated to social responsibility, including one that I formed with my middle school students. In 2015 I took a year away from school to launch an EdTech startup called Scholastico, which helps schools with web-based tools like parent-teacher conference registration and student-teacher feedback surveys.

I give frequent hands-on workshops on educational technology, social entrepreneurship and data-driven leadership at international conferences.  These include ISTE, Learning2, the 21st Century Learning Conference in Hong Kong, ASB Unplugged in Mumbai, the European Laptop Institute, Apple Leadership events, Google Teacher Academy, Google Summits, and the ECIS and NESA annual conferences.
