Student Driven Math Instruction: Learning Through Reflection and Exploration

By handing over the cognitive load to the learner, math class can transform into a place of reflection, exploratory learning, risk-taking, and fun. This workshop will tell a story of how this teacher’s childhood math phobia pushed her to reimagine math class and design a different math learning experience. Participants will see how a slight shift in practice can alter math attitudes for teachers and students alike.
