Criteria for a good workshop session

Planning and organization

  • Has explicit connection with the conference theme
  • Has clear objective(s) that can be shared with the audience at the start
  • Has short publishable description and identifies general skill level and prior knowledge needed by participants (on application form)
  • Has clear and accessible resources available for participants  that are submitted  ahead of time

Presentation

  • Workshop models pedagogy that supports the content
  • Participants have opportunity to apply ideas to own situation and connect with others about content
  • There is a logical flow of ideas and materials in the presentation
  • Information is conveyed clearly and through several media and/or  modes of communication
  • Inspires participants to stretch ideas, take action
